Welcome to Keep What You Learn, a site devoted to advanced memory techniques.

You can remember what you learn

Many books and sites focus on short-term remembering, like remembering your shopping list or names at a party. They may offer amazing methods to make information memorable. But they don't show you how to make these methods work for lots of information. For instance, your actual classes.

On the other hand, other sites focus on long-term remembering (spaced repetition), without showing you how to make information memorable.

Meanwhile, almost no one seems to be talking (in English) about memorizing whole texts, like epic poetry or the Bible. But it can be done, and it's worth doing.

There are many memorization tools. You have to find the right tool for each job.

I want to show you how to combine these methods, and learn to use them for anything you want to memorize.

Memory articles coming soon

So far, I have used this site to post information and downloads for my classes at Christendom College and the Aquinas Academic Center in Front Royal, VA. But memory articles are coming soon (late May, 2010).

This morning I met a fascinating fellow, Joey Endicott, who has both memorized several chapters of John and embarked on the full Appalachian Trail. He's already blogged about our meeting, and graciously added a link back here from his site. I'm actually in the middle of redesigning the site and beginning regular updates. So if you check back in the next week or two, you'll find a new look and more information. Thanks for dropping by!
